diver propulsion vehicle (DPV) course

This PADI course is designed to introduce divers to the skills, excitement and fun of using diver propulsion vehicles.  It familiarizes student divers with the knowledge, organization, planning, procedures, techniques potential problems and hazards associated with using DPVs.  This course is great fun!  The following additional topics are included:

• Equipment considerations including battery care, maintenance and basic servicing
• The planning and organization of dives using DPVs
• Potential problems and hazards
• Proper procedures for determining turnaround point, vehicle failure, runaway motors, descents and ascents and avoiding propeller entanglements
• Techniques to avoid harming fragile aquatic life
• Techniques for entering and exiting the water with a DPV

There are a couple of training options.  The first is a DPV orientation.  This is conducted in the pool and costs £35 (Club Members Free of Charge).  This is the minimum requirement if you wish to hire one of our DPVs.  The full PADI Certification course is conducted over 1 day and includes 2 open water dives using DPVs.  The price of the course is £99 which includes the crewpack, all equipment (including hire of the DPVs) and certification.  Entry fees are payable in addition except for dive club members.  To participate on this course you must be a PADI Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Divers or a similar qualification from another training organization.   Minimum age is 12 and you will be required to complete a medical questionnaire.
