advanced nitrox / rec trimix diver
The
IANTD Advanced Nitrox course is designed to extend the diver's knowledge in
the use of EANx for recreational diving and to develop the skills and knowledge
learned during basic nitrox training. This
3 day course includes pool training, theory and at least 4 open water dives,
2 of which will be between 30 and 39 metres. Topics covered include:
Students are taught the use of EANx mixtures from 21% to 40% oxygen for diving and EANx mixtures in the range of 41% to 50% oxygen are used to teach the fundamentals of safety and decompressions stops. This course is taught using twin sets and stages cylinders and is the first serious step into the realm of technical diving. This course forms a platform for all other technical training levels.
Alternatively students may wish to opt to undertake the recreational trimix programme. This allows qualified students to use mormoxic trimix gas (ie using 21% Oxygen) but reduce the effects of narcosis by also adding helium to the breathing mix. In order to participate on either of these courses students must have an entry level nitrox qualification with a minimum of 15 logged nitrox dives or have deep diving experience with a minimum of 50 dives, including 10 dives between 27 and 39 metres.
