divemaster
The
first professional level of diver training within the PADI system. If
you think that scuba diving might be more than a recreational pastime, or
you just want to get involved in teaching the sport, then aquiring the PADI
Divemaster rating is an essential part of the process. A Divemaster's
responsibilities can be considerable and can include looking after people,
planning, safety, and dive site orientation. In short a Divemaster is
there to help and assist other divers.
We
conduct our Divemaster training programme as internships so the time frame
depends on your commitment and the time you have available. You will
work hand in hand with our instructors and develop your skills and knowledge
as you do so, As you progress through the course your skills will get
better (if they are not already). Be under no illusions, this is a course
that takes time and effort, but as with most things in life the more you put
in the more you will get out. Just to qualify to enter the course you've learnt
a great deal. By the time you've finished you will have accomplished
a great deal more.
The course consists of three modules: Knowledge Development, Water Skills and Stamina and Practical Application. With such a wide scope you'll need to invest time to studying and pratising skills with a mix of self study and formal presentation. If you need help along the way, we are always there.
As an aside, on our last instructor development course, three of the students were "home grown" Divemasters and did their training with us. All three went on to pass the Instructor Development Course and the Instructors Exam with flying colours.
To find out more about our Divemaster programme, why not pop into the dive centre for a chat. The cost of the course is £399. This does not includes the materials required which are normally around £147 (althugh may be less if you already have some of the required items). To undertake Divemaster training you must be 18 years of age and have 25 dives under your belt. By the time you complete the course you must have completed 60 dives to qualify. We will ensure you achieve this goal and will make sure you do the dives dives required during your training! In addition you must have a signed medical, evidence of Primary and Secondary Care training within the last two years and be a PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent.
