The PADI Equipment Specialist Course is designed to be an introduction to various types of equipment and to familiarize divers with its operation and maintenance. It concentrates on the repair and overhauling of equipment and some minor servicing. Some of the topics included are:
- The theory, principles and operation of diving equipment
- Routine, recommended care and maintenance procedures and equipment storage
- Common problems with equipment and recommended professional maintenance procedures (including a demonstration of regulator repair procedures)
- Simple suggestions for comfortable equipment configurations and an introduction to new equipment
