A letter sent to PADI:

Dear PADI

I just wanted to drop you a note to say what a great experience I have had gaining my first PADI qualification - Open Water Diver.  Having done a DSD on holiday I immediately set about looking for a PADI Dive Centre to get started.  I had the good fortune to call the team at Triton.  From the first call they went out of their way to welcome me into the sport by fitting me in on the next course they had running and when I turned up at the centre - received a really friendly introduction.  I am sure there are more glamorous locations in the world to learn to dive - but for me - the Triton team got it spot on where it counts - the quality of instruction was superb - the instructor Paul Kimbley was always clear, focussed, in control and instilled confidence in the whole class.  The Divemasters and support staff also all focussed on ensuring that all of the styudents received the guidance and support necessary.  I received some great advice on equipment too - and the whole experience was the best introduction to a sport I have had.  I am looking forward to climbing the PADI ladder with the Triton team - David and his team run a great operation.

Yours sincerely

David Morgan

Hi guys!

Sorry I haven't contacted you sooner but things have been rather busy. I trust you remember us - Shaun & Annette - we were on our way to Fiji for our honeymoon. Well the holiday was fantastic! We had a brilliant time and whilstg a t Musket Cove we did our Open water dives and we both passed. So we were very happy to say the least.   Thanks again to all of you who helped us get the first part done  - it really helped us get through the open water bit. The training was excellent from you and the extra instruction was unbelievably helpful. This proved its worth in the second resort where the safety aspect of the diving was sadly lacking. It was poor considering the dive centre was PADI accredited. It was very much "sort it out yourself" attitude. This was quite a shock especially as we had only been certified that week. But the diving was still amazing. We managed to do a drift dive as well as a normal deep dive.   Anyway, when we had our certificates we managed to get our photos taken and I was wearing your club tee shirt!   If you want to see more of our dive potos then go to my website and click on "diving pictures".   We must get down to see you and sort out some time to arrange for our Advanced Open Water if not some dives around the area.

Oh yes, our lad is interested in doing a try dive but wants one of his mates with him. He is 13 years old. What paperwork would be needed?

See you soon Shaun & Annette O'Brien

I took my Emergency First Response Instructor course at the weekend and wanted to say how well the course was set out and that the instructor training delivered by David Jones was absolutely brilliant. He was very thorough and to the point.

The teaching method was informative and caught the audience's attention. I hope I can be as good when I teach my Emergency First Response courses. The two full days were interesting and gave me the confidence to go out and teach the courses.

A big thank you to David Jones at Triton.

Hi David

Just a note to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for a fantastic weekend of instruction.

It was brilliant and I would recommend Triton to anyone. I was amazed at the buzzing atmosphere and enthusiasm of everybody that came and went.

Your Mum and Dad are lovely and made me feel like I’d know everyone for years too. I hope you don’t mind but I have written to PADI as Suzanne Pleydell had asked me to let her know how I got on as she gave me a list of CD’s to contact. My photo’s are in the post today and look forward to doing the rest of my courses with you as soon as I have gone through my schedule.

Thanks again

Dear Sir/Madam

I have just completed my PADI OW course with Triton Scuba in Portsmouth.  I would first like to congratulate you on having professional instructors like Wyndham Lucas and Brett Maton, who delivered the course criteria with clear concise instructions and guidance.  I found the course exhilarating and could not wait for the next day to begin.  You may think this is just hype to boost the shop, but I am a Construction Project Manager and I deal with people daily.  I know when people have good people skills andwhen they don't and these guys do.  It is in situations when the visibility is down to 1m, which happened in my OW dives, that you need reassurance and confidence in the people around you.  I had that....  these things put together have convinced me to sign up for the Advanced Open Water.

Dear David

I am writing to let you know that I have to cancel my membership of your excellent dive club as I am moving away from the South Coast back ‘oop North.

If I'm ever back this way, I will definitely drop in for a couple of dives; thanks very much for my (somewhat brief) time and all your help.

Kind regards

Rich

Dear Sirs,
I felt that I had to write to inform you of how much help I have received at one of your five star centres. I've always had a fear of the sea, which is due to me nearly drowning at an early age, and when my boyfriend stated that he wanted to become a PADI qualified Scuba Diver and wanted me to be his Dive Buddy, I felt that I had to give it a go. We enrolled for the Open Water Course at Triton Scuba in Southsea, Hampshire (centre 3582).  We were made to feel very welcome, and any nerves that we had about the course soon subsided.  However, when we started to complete our modules in the pool for the confined open water dives, I panicked and wanted to get out.  Our instructor Jola (621916) was great, she calmed me down and made me feel like it happened to everyone, and I was determined to try again the next day.  On my second attempt in the pool, Jola let me do everything at my own pace and by the end of the day I could understand why so many people enjoyed diving.  Unfortunately due to the slight hiccup with me, my boyfriend and I had to wait to complete the course as I had fallen behind completing my modules.  However, Triton explained this wasn't a problem and when I felt ready to carry out my Open Water Dives they would ensure that my partner and myself were on the same course.  2 weeks later we were on that course, and with the encouragement of the instructor Phillip Medley (626874), I am pleased to say on 26 June 2004 we both became PADI Open Water Divers.

I would just like to thank Triton Scuba and in particular Phillip, because without his help, encouragement and patience, I know I would have missed out on so much.  There are other organisations and dive clubs that are closer to where I live, but I wouldn't think about going to anywhere else and I certainly wouldn't hesitate in recommending Triton Scuba and its staff as a first class professional organisation, that helps to maintain PADI's good name. Thank you for giving people the chance like me to overcome my fear, and experience a whole new world.
Yours faithfully,
Susan Chafe (Miss)

(A letter written to PADI International and passed on to us)

Dear Sirs,

I wanted to write to you to offer the following testimonial to the benefit of PADI training in general, and to one of your five star centres in particular.

My family and I decided to take our holiday this year in Cuba and my daughter, Corinna, who is 12, wanted to be able to try diving while we were there. I ascertained that PADI did not operate in Cuba, because of the American embargo, and was unable to discover what standard of training would be available there. Accordingly I decided that we should become PADI certified before the holiday, in order to allow us to take responsibility for our own safety. I visited Triton Scuba in Southsea, Hants (centre 3582) where David Jones, the owner was very helpful in validating my decision and in explaining the PADI options and training progression. Having obtained permission from my doctor, my daughter and I both enrolled on the PADI Open Water Diver course at Triton.

Throughout the course, including classroom work, pool sessions and open water dives David and his team of instructors and divemasters were always thorough and professional, yet warm and friendly and conveyed a genuine love of diving as a sport. I have always been somewhat uneasy in the water, but I found their support, encouragement and easy manner and explanations very relaxing and beneficial in overcoming this. During the second Open Water dive, my daughter became panicked during one of the required skills and ascended from the training platform with one of the divemasters. Once again everyone involved was exemplary in the support and encouragement given to Corinna and spared no effort in getting her back into the water and restoring some of her confidence. Unfortunately she refused to continue the dive and the course, including myself, continued without her. David and his team were very encouraging of Corinna in the following weeks, even to the extent of allowing her to repeat the pool session with another class, to increase her confidence, and I am glad to report that she did complete the requirements and is now certified as Junior Scuba Diver.

I cannot stress too highly the friendly and professional attitude of everyone we encountered at Triton Scuba. I had never considered the possibility of diving in the UK, but their enthusiasm and encouragement is so infectious that I am now doing so. It is hard to envision a better group of ambassadors for the sport or for the training and certification program they offer in your name.

Yours faithfully, Peter Hulme

Hi David,

Just a quick note to say thanks for making us feel so welcome on our trip to Portsmouth on 10-11 July.  It's nice to find a Dive shop that is concerned as much with making diving enjoyable, rather than simply making money!   I'll certainly be recommending that we organise another weekend for next year.

People have been hassling me about organising an Autumn trip to the Red Sea, but everyone seems to want something different.  I've just sent out an email with 4 different options, one of which is your trip to Dahab, so I'll let you know within the next few days whether there's any interest.

Best wishes, Neil Stead (GLUG)

Hello David,
Just a quick email to thank you and moreover Glenn for your support, patience and your good sense of humour!  I'm really happy even if i now have a cold!!!
I should pop in this week-end as I did not have my log book with me last Sunday. Thank you very much again and I look forward to go diving again soon!
With kind regards,

Dear Triton Scuba,
Just wanted to write to say how much I appreciated and enjoyed my initial PADI diving course with yourselves.  The instruction, over two weekends, was excellent.  At no time did I feel apprehensive about going into the water.  This is due to knowledge and confidence installed by the diving instructor, Glenn Cooke.  Also thanks to all the volunteers and the divemaster.  At no time whilst in the lake were there less than two safety staff on the shore, one on the surface of the water and one below the water, as well as the instructors.  We could not have been safer.  Equipment was of a high standard and well looked after.  I have learned a great deal on the course and am inspired, and confident, to go on to do further diving courses and adventures.  I would recommend Triton to anyone wishing to learn to dive.

Good luck and thank you again. - Martin Arnold

David,

Sorry I was unable to join you on the day.  I had lots of comments about the high quality of the course, the instructor, the food and the venue.  several people had attended an old style VHF course and had something to compare against.  Thanks again for making this a very positive experience for everyone, they all enjoyed it and I (and others) will keep in touch regarding other potential courses.

Regards  - Steve Bileckyj

Ros

Thanks for a very interesting and enjoyable course of Open Water training.  Although I did not relish going through training again from scratch, you made it fun and entertaining.  I could not have wished for a nicer group of students or instructors.   Best wishes  -  Alan Brewster

Hi folks

I will say thank you to all the people which have helped to make the course a pleasure.  For me it was a great experience and I will carry on with diving.  Special greetings go to Glenn and the other DMs.
