RYA
Training
One of the strengths of the Royal Yachting Association lies in its training schemes. The principles underlying these schemes is Education rather than Legislation, because the RYA believe that a higher standard of competence can be achieved by voluntary training rather than legislation requiring registration and driver licensing. These practical training standards are provided by recognized Training Centres like Triton Scuba.
Powerboating
If
you are the driver of a high-speed powerboat, you have a responsibility towards
other water users. The RYA Powerboat Scheme has been developed to advice
you of that responsibility at the same time as training youto handle your
boat in a seamanlike manner, so that you and your passengers can all enjoy
being afloat, safely. An awareness of the basic rules and customs of
the sea coupled with courteous driving and a skillful approach to boat handling
are what the powerboat scheme is to designed to teach you. So why not come aboard our RIB, Argo, and learn the ropes. Click on

VHF DSC Short Range Radio
A
VHF Radio is an essential piece of safety equipment on any dive boat or pleasure
craft. But did you know that it must be covered by a valid radio licence
and that it can only be operated under the direct personal supervision of
a holder of the appropriate Certificate of Competence. With the advent
of Digital Selective Calling radios and the introduction of a Global Maritime
Distress and Safety System, it is all the more important (not only to stay
within the law) that you receive correct training on VHF radios if you intend
to use one. To find out more, click on the link to the right.
