IANTD technical diver

Technical diving in Scapa FlowThe IANTD Technical Diver programme is designed to train divers to conduct dives to depths between 30 and 51 metres using custom blend breathing gas mixtures. It also provides a greater understanding of those mixtures, a knowledge of the limits of EANx and the use of EANx and up to 100 % Oxygen as a decompression gas.  The course consists of confined water and academic sessions and between 3 - 5 open water dives, depending on experience.  Topics covered include:

The IANTD Technical Diver course follows on nicely from the Nitrox Diver or Advanced Nitrox course and provides the base level knowledge and skills necessary for the remaining open circuit technical diving programmes.  The Technical Diver course lasts for 3 days unless it is combined with the Normoxic course in which case it lasts for 5 days.

In order to participate on this course students must have an advanced nitrox qualification with a minimum of 100 logged dives of which at least 30 were deeper than 27 metres, or they must have a basic nitrox certification, proof of 150 logged dives of which at least 50 were deeper than 27 metres.  Minimum age is 18 years.  Contact the dive centre for more details and course costs.
