SURFACE MARKER BUOY WORKSHOPFree Training workshops for club members - Reel and SMB training

Are you daunted by the prospect of having to deploy a delayed SMB?  Do you always let your buddy carry the reel?  We believe that divers should be safe.   In the UK, the use of surface markers buoys can be a life saving skill.  Bags and reels are covered in some speciality course areas, such as search and recovery and wreck diving, but they are useful items of equipment whenever you go diving.  In order to promote safe diving practices we offer this training to our club members at no cost.  We like to think of it as providing safety over profit; something quite unique in this day and age.  The courses last one day and are designed to help students get to grip with their bags and reels. All sorts of topics are covered and there is an opportunity to look at stowage options and safe deployment options, as well as a chance to try out a variety of reels, buoys and bags.  Training is carried out at Horsea Island by one of our instructors and the only expense is your entrance fee (£15).  For details of dates, contact the dive centre.

EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE WORKSHOPdiving equipment maintenance and repair

Don't you hate it when the simplest of equipment failures can ruin your days diving.  Even worse it could be a failure that leads to a hazardous situation.  For this reason, we have put together an equipment workshop programme that covers the fundamentals of equipment care and maintenance.  It will look at basic equipment husbandry, storage, repair and servicing.  It will also cover prevention measure, as well as tool and spares options that will make your diving safge and make sure you don't ruin a whole day for want of a basic O ring.   The course is no cost for club members and leads to a PADI Distinctive Speciality course for those who want to pay for the certification card.  For details of dates, contact the dive centre.

RESCUE WORKSHOPrescue diver training

Here at Triton, we have a lot of experience of diving.  Over the years we have seen good and bad practices.  The fact is, that not everyone in the world is trained to the high standards that we achieve here.  Even with the best trainnig, things can and do go wrong, and when they do we think that most of you would like to be able to help.  However, we understand that many divers do not want to progress all the way to rescue diver.  Likewise qualified rescue divers never get the chance to practice their skills.

Our Rescue Workshop provides divers with an insight into the skills and requirements of undertaking a diver rescue, and provide qualified divers with the chance to practice.  It looks at basic life support, diver recovery and a few simple rescue techniques.  It is not designed to replace the rescue course although many students go on to do the course at a later date.  The workshop lasts one day, is open to all club members and the only cost is the entry fee to the dive site.  For details of dates, contact the dive centre.

training workshops are free to club members .... no other dive centre gives you more
