IANTD trimix diver

The IANTD Trimix Diver programme is designed for those divers who are already involved in deep diving activities.  It is not intended as an enticement to divers who are content to remain within normal sport diving limits.  Trimix affords a safer means for deep water exploration for divers who need to perform with a clear head at depth.  The programme develops self sufficiency techniques and attitudes.  This course is only for those divers with a specific requirement to extend the limits of normal technical diving.  Topics covered include:

• equipment configuration
• gas and equipment failure drills
• the use of stage cylinders
• gas switching
• bale out drills
• standby diver and emergency procedures
• decompression procedures
• risk management
• computer aided decompression models

The IANTD Trimix Diver course is run over 3 days.  In order to participate on the course students must be Technical or Normoxic Trimix divers and provide proof of at least 200 logged dives of which at least 25 were to depths between 39 and 60 metres.  The course includes 5 dives in total, 2 skills training dives and 3 Trimix dives.  At least 2 gas switches are to be made on each dive.  Divers entering this programme on equivalent experience are required to complete a further 2 dives.  The minimum age is 18 years.  Contact the dive centre for more information and course costs.
