In UK waters a Surface Marker Buoy is essential.  In fact having one with you is a pretty good idea where ever you are.  However, using them requires skill and practice.  The PADI SMB speciality course provides you with the knowledge and skills to use them safely while under the guidance of a professional and experienced instructor.  Topics covered include:

• Types of reels and buoys
• Methods of deployment
• Stowage and maintenance
• Application and safety issues

This course is all about providing you with the skills and importantly the confidence to use a SMB.  It is a one day course consisting of 2 dives and it costs £149, which includes materials, use of buoys, certification and boat fees.
